Description

No. 12, High Street is a house dating primarily from the 17th century, with later 19th-century additions. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and has a roof of Collyweston slate. Originally designed with a three-unit plan, it is now arranged as two units. The house is single-storey with an attic.

The front elevation facing High Street shows various blocked openings alongside a 20th-century door, positioned far to the left and set under a wooden lintel. A gabled eaves dormer, also on the far left, features a 20th-century PVC casement window. A stone surround indicates the former presence of a narrow fire window in the centre of the range. A hipped lean-to roof extends to the far right. There are two external stone stacks: a large one centrally located and another at the end of the building. A 19th-century lean-to extension on the left side has a 20th-century PVC casement window under a wooden lintel.

The rear elevation includes a central 19th-century casement window under a wooden lintel, and two gabled eaves dormers. The dormer on the left side has a two-light stone mullion window. The interior has not been inspected, but likely contains remains of an open fireplace.
