Description

This is a retaining wall for a fish pond located approximately 40 meters southeast of Drayton House. It likely has medieval origins but mainly dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. The wall is constructed from squared coursed limestone and retains all four sides of a rectangular pond. It is probably adapted from a medieval stewpond associated with Drayton House. The gardens surrounding the area are included in the Historic England Register of Parks and Gardens at grade I.
