Description
Gates, gatepiers, and attached screens were built in the early 18th century for the Duchess of Norfolk, located approximately 600 meters southeast of the south front of Drayton House. The gatepiers are made of limestone ashlar, featuring rusticated surfaces, attached columns, and moulded cornices, topped with closed lead urns. The wrought iron gates have pyramid scroll tops, and the attached railings include scroll panelled standards and scroll cresting. These elements are positioned along the main north/south axis of the south front of Drayton House. The gardens are included in the Historic England Register of Parks and Gardens at grade I.
