Description
21 Pilton Road is a house dated 1637, primarily built in the late 17th century to early 18th century. It features regular coursed limestone with a thatched roof and originally had a two-unit plan. The house is a single storey with an attic and has a two-window range, positioned at right angles to the road. The windows are casements with glazing bars, set under wooden lintels, and there are similar casements under eyebrow dormers in the attic. A central plank door, also under a wooden lintel, is accompanied by an early 20th-century porch. Brick stacks are located at both ends of the house. An outbuilding attached to the left now forms part of the house. The gable on the right, which abuts the road, has a chamfered corner and a datestone below the verge to the left. The rear elevation mirrors the front. Inside, there are open fireplaces with a bressumer and a bread oven located in the room behind the entrance. The winder stair features a 17th-century panelled door, likely reset.
