Description
Dovecote House is a house built in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and has a Collyweston slate roof. The original design was a two-unit plan, and the house stands two storeys tall. The front elevation facing the road features a two-window range of 20th-century casements on the first floor, while the ground floor has a three-window range of casements with glazing bars. The two windows on the right have gauged-stone heads, and the window on the left is set under a wooden lintel. There is a small bulls-eye window on the far left. The house has ashlar gable parapets and ashlar end stacks with moulded cornices. An outbuilding attached to the right now serves as an extension to the house. The rear elevation, which faces the garden, also has a three-window range and includes a 20th-century porch on the left. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have chamfered spine beams. The house is included for its group value.
