Description

This is a house, now divided into two dwellings, located on Church Street in Isham. It dates to 1708, as indicated by an inscribed datestone. The construction uses regular coursed limestone and ironstone, with a thatched and pantile roof, and originally comprised a three-unit plan. The building is a single storey with an attic. It has a three-window facade featuring 19th and 20th century casement windows with wood lintels, and two eyebrow dormers in the attic. Number 16 has a 20th century door on its far right. The left gable is finished with an ashlar parapet, and there are brick and stone stacks on the ridge and at the ends; the central stack has an ashlar plinth. Another datestone is present in the left gable. A single-unit extension to the rear of number 16 has a pantile roof and was originally a separate dwelling. Inside number 16, original spine beams remain, along with evidence of an open fireplace.
