Description
Manor House Farm is a building with probable medieval origins, primarily dating from the late 17th century and 18th century. It is constructed of regularly coursed ironstone and limestone, topped with a slate roof. The building features a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. The front has a two-window range of casements with glazing bars set under wooden lintels. A central semi-circular carriage arch, which is now blocked, has a drip mould and label stops, with flanking buttresses and a blocked pointed arch to the left. There are signs of blocked openings on the first floor to the right. The gable ends have ashlar parapets, and there are brick and stone stacks at the ridge and ends. At the rear, there is a similar four-window range with a central 20th-century door and three roof dormers. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have an open fireplace. The building is reputed to have ecclesiastical origins.
