Description

The Old Rectory is a mid-18th century rectory, later converted into a house, located on the Isham Kettering Road. It is constructed of regular coursed limestone with ironstone dressings, and has a slate roof. Originally designed with a three-unit plan, the building is two storeys high with an attic. The front elevation has a 3-window arrangement. The first floor features casement windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor has single, double, and tripartite sash windows, all with glazing bars and wood lintels. It features ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and brick stacks at the ridge. A gable facing the left-hand side includes a 6-panel door under a wood lintel. A single-storey outbuilding of the 18th century is attached to the left of the main front, connected by a wall. This outbuilding has a single-window range with a casement window similar to those in the main house. It also has ashlar gable parapets and a brick stack at the end. An early 19th century lean-to extension, matching the style of the main house, is located at the rear. The interior was noted to include panelled window shutters, though it has not been inspected.
