Description

This is a house dating from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It is built of regular coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and a slate roof, following a double-depth plan. The building has a basement, two storeys, and an attic. The main front features three windows. The central entrance has a 6-panel door with panelled reveals and a moulded stone surround topped with two ball finials. Flanking the door are 19th-century French windows with margin lights and moulded stone surrounds with segmental arch heads. The first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars and similar moulded stone surrounds. The roof is hipped with a panelled soffit. A 20th-century dormer sits centrally, and brick stacks are located at the eaves. A side elevation includes one 19th-century casement window with a moulded stone surround, and evidence of a blocked door opening with a flat arch head and keyblock. A 2-light stone-mullion basement window is present, alongside other windows and a rear extension, all dating to the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected. It is believed that the moulded stone details are early 18th-century features reset from Pytchley Old Hall, which was demolished in 1824.
