Description

Spring Farmhouse, now a house, likely originated in the 17th century, with development in the early 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a Collyweston slate roof. Originally designed with a three-room layout, the building has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar. The front elevation has a four-window arrangement of one- and two-light casement windows, featuring glazing bars, all with wooden lintels. A 20th-century central door, also under a wooden lintel, leads to a flight of steps. A three-light window with an ovolo-moulded stone mullion is located in the cellar to the far right. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks are situated at the ridge and ends of the building. The right-hand gable features two stone mullion cellar windows consistent with the front elevation. Inside, the kitchen retains remnants of an open fireplace with a bressumer, and displays stop-chamfered spine beams. A room located to the far right, above the cellar, is raised to a higher level. Some original 18th-century plank and panelled floors are still in place.
