Description

This is a house located on Gretton Road, Harringworth, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a thatched roof, later replaced with 20th-century plain tiles. Originally planned as a two-unit dwelling, it is a single-story building with an attic. The front elevation features a two-window arrangement of 20th-century PVC casement windows in the original openings, each beneath a wooden lintel. Similar casements are set within eyebrow dormers, illuminating the attic space. A 20th-century door is positioned on the far right, also protected by a wooden lintel. A brick stack is located at the right end of the building. An outbuilding, originally single-unit and single-story, now incorporated into the main house, has a 20th-century plain tile roof. Inside, the room on the right side contains an open fireplace with a bressumer (a large wooden beam above a fireplace). A step-chamfered spine beam is also visible. Evidence of a collar truss remains in the attic, along with the deteriorated remains of a stud partition dividing the rooms.
