Description
No. 63 West Street is a house dating from the early 17th century that was restored in the 20th century. It is built of squared coursed limestone and has a Welsh-slate roof. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, the house has two storeys and features a three-window range with 2- and 3-light, ovolo-moulded stone-mullion windows, all equipped with hood moulds and leaded lights. The central doorway, which has been converted into a window, features a moulded stone surround with a 4-centred arch-head. There are two 20th-century roof windows, ashlar gable parapets, and ashlar end stacks. A 20th-century entrance is located at the rear, and the rear wing has been remodelled in the 20th century.
Inside, the room to the left of the entrance contains a 17th-century fireplace with a 4-centred arch-head, which has been reset from the first floor. The room to the right of the entrance features an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer. Above the bressumer, there is a panel with partially legible black lettering that records two religious verses.
