Description

Townsend Cottage is a small house dating to the 17th century, with alterations made since. The right-hand bay has a timber frame with diagonal braces and whitewashed brick infill, while the left-hand bay has been recased in whitewashed brick. The roof is thatched, has been rebuilt, and includes a central brick chimney. The building is 1½ storeys high and two bays wide. There are 20th-century leaded windows on the ground floor; the left bay has French doors and a bay window, and the right bay has a three-light casement. The upper floor has an old paired leaded casement in the thatch to the right, an old small leaded light to the centre below the eaves, and a 20th-century paired leaded casement partly in the thatch to the left. A central 20th-century door has a thatched hood supported on carved wooden brackets. A small, single-storey bay set back to the left is half-timbered and has a tiled roof.
