Description
Nos. 24 and 26 on Lower Street are a pair of houses dating from the 17th to early 18th century, with some alterations. They are constructed with a timber frame and feature whitewashed brick infill, with part of the structure having a rubble stone plinth. The left bay has a front made of thin whitewashed brick. The houses have a 20th-century tiled roof with slightly raised eaves. There is a central chimney made of thin brick, along with additional brick chimneys on the right gable and at the front between the left bays. The buildings are one storey with an attic and consist of four bays. The left bay contains an old three-light leaded casement window with a segmental head, and there is another partly leaded window in the attic of the left gable. The remaining bays have three-light wooden casements with single horizontal glazing bars, including three on the first floor in gabled eaves-line dormers. There are two board doors located in gabled trellis porches, one in the centre and the other between the right bays.
