Description

The Sportsman is a 17th-century public house situated on the south side of Lower Street in Quinton. It is timber-framed with whitewashed brick infill, featuring a half-hipped thatched roof and brick chimneys positioned between the left bays and to the right. The building is arranged over one and a half storeys and comprises three bays. It has barred wooden casements – three-light windows to the ground floor of the left bays, a canted bay window to the right, and a paired casement on the upper storey centrally within the thatch. Board doors are located to the right of the left and central bays. A gable facing the street contains a similar three-light casement window on the first floor. 20th-century extensions are present to the far gable. The interior contains stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
