HUGHENDEN SPEEN ROAD SU 89 NW (NORTH DEAN) 3/121 Farm buildings to W, of Upper North Dean - Farmhouse

Barn, cowsheds, shed and stable. Early-mid C19. L-plan ranges. Barn is of timber frame and weatherboard on flint and brick plinth with Denner Hill stone quoins. Old tile roof. 3 bays. Central gabled projecting cart entry with board doors, barred windows and catslide roof to left; catslide projection to front of right bay; lean-to at right end. Raking queen post trusses. Lower cowshed at left end, also weatherboard with hipped old tile roof, one open bay with curved braces to wall-plate, and mangers inside. Shed at angle has weatherboarding to yard, and brick and flint wall to road. One open bay, one board door, one 3-light barred wooden casement. Stable is of flint and brick with Denner Hill stone quoins, off-set eaves and tiled roof. Yard side has central stable door, flanking barred wooden casements with segmental heads, and eaves-breaking gabled hayloft door to right. Hipped weatherboard bay to left with stable door and flanking windows to left end. Included for group value.
