Description

The farm buildings located to the west of Upper North Dean Farmhouse date from the early to mid-19th century and are arranged in an L-plan layout. The barn features a timber frame with weatherboarding set on a flint and brick plinth, complemented by Denner Hill stone quoins and an old tiled roof. It consists of three bays and has a central gabled cart entry with board doors, barred windows, and a catslide roof to the left. There is also a catslide projection at the front of the right bay and a lean-to at the right end. Inside, the barn has raking queen post trusses.

To the left end is a lower cowshed, also weatherboarded, with a hipped old tiled roof. This cowshed includes one open bay with curved braces supporting the wall-plate and mangers inside. The shed at an angle features weatherboarding facing the yard and a brick and flint wall facing the road, with one open bay, one board door, and a three-light barred wooden casement.

The stable is constructed from flint and brick, with Denner Hill stone quoins and offset eaves, topped with a tiled roof. On the yard side, it has a central stable door, flanked by barred wooden casements with segmental heads, and a gabled hayloft door that breaks the eaves to the right. To the left, there is a hipped weatherboard bay with a stable door and flanking windows. These buildings are included for their group value.
