Description
The Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, which has been altered and partially refronted in the 19th century. The front and left gable have been rebuilt in brick, while the rear features a brick ground floor and timber framing, some of which is planked, with brick infill above. It has old tile roofs and a central brick chimney with a rebuilt top. The building is arranged in an L-plan and consists of one storey and an attic, with a two-storey, four-bay front range.
The front has two two-storey bays on the left with dentil eaves, four-pane sash windows, and central glazed doors within a 20th-century gabled timber porch. The two bays on the right have a catslide projection with leaded casements on the ground floor and paired barred wooden casements in 20th-century gabled dormers. The rear features two three-light leaded casements on the ground floor, 20th-century wooden casements in gabled eaves-line dormers, a single light below the eaves in the right bay, and a porch in the angle.
Attached to the far end of the short rear wing are 19th-century weatherboarded outbuildings. The interior reveals more timber framing, including chamfered spine beams, some of which are stopped, and traces of painted Gothic lettering on a cross beam in the ground floor room to the left of center. The right bays have been altered and contain one truss with reused chamfered arch-braces to the collar.
