Description

Wood End Farmhouse is a timber-frame house, dated 1619 on a fireplace. The timber frame is covered with colourwashed render, with weatherboarding to the top of the street gable. The roof is pantile, and there are brick chimneys on the right gable and between the left-hand bays. The house is of 1½ storeys and has three bays. The right-hand bays have paired barred wooden casements on the ground floor and three-light wooden casements on the first floor, set under raised eaves. A 20th-century gabled porch is situated in the lobby entry between the left-hand bays. A 20th-century extension, built with colourwashed brick and a slate roof at right angles to the main block, obscures the left bay. A three-light window with chamfered 17th-century wooden mullions is situated at the rear. The interior features an entry, a spiral staircase, and a fireplace aligned in a row. Curved wind-braces are visible in the roof.
