Description
Weir Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, consisting of two builds and altered over time. It features a timber frame with plaster infill at the rear and whitewashed render at the front. The cottage has a thatched roof with brick chimneys located at the right gable and between the left-hand bays. It is 1½ storeys high with three irregular bays.
On the ground floor, there is a barred single casement window and a 19th-century three-light casement window, both situated under a small wooden hood in the left bay. To the right, there is a single light window and another similar three-light casement. The first floor has two three-light leaded windows set into the thatch. The central entry features 19th-century half-glazed double doors framed by a Tudor arch, along with a glazed 20th-century porch. Above the entrance, there is a paired barred wooden casement positioned just below the eaves. A Royal Exchange fire insurance plaque is located between the right-hand bays. Additionally, there is a single-storey extension to the left with a hipped thatch roof.
