Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church built between 1857 and 1858 by architect G.E. Street. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone and features slate roofs adorned with decorative ridge tiles and coped gables. The church is designed in the Early English style and includes a nave with a bellcote at the west end, a chancel with a vestry, and a north porch.

Architectural details include a plinth, a moulded cill course, and offset buttresses, which are more elaborate on the chancel. The west wall of the nave has a two-light plate traceried window, while both the north and south walls feature a cusped lancet at the west end and two two-light traceried windows. The gabled bellcote has offset sides, and the gabled porch is characterized by two-centred chamfered arches. The chancel, which consists of two bays, has cusped lancets and a two-light plate tracery window on the south side. The vestry to the north has similar windows and a west-facing door.

The main east window is particularly striking, featuring three lancets set in recessed moulded surrounds, with the taller central light flanked by slender shafts that have rings and carved caps. Internally, this window is further enhanced with cusping. The church also has a wide chancel arch decorated with fleurons. Stained glass in the east and west windows is dated 1861 and 1868, respectively.
