Description

These are a pair of cottages dating to the 17th century, which were altered and given a new facade in the 19th century. The rear displays some timber framing with whitewashed brick infill. The front is of brick, with a steeply pitched thatched roof, half-hipped on the left side, and brick chimneys on the right gable and between the cottages. The building is 1½ storeys high, with three bays in total. Number 61, the left cottage, has one wide bay and features paired wooden casement windows in the centre and on the first floor, partially set within the thatch. A barred window is located to the right. Ground floor windows have segmental heads, and a ledged, flush-panelled door sits to the left. Number 63, the right cottage, has two bays and includes 3-light barred wooden casement windows on the ground floor, and an upper window on the left, with a smaller sash window in the upper right. A 20th-century door is centrally located. Both the door and the right-hand window have segmental heads. Curved windbraces are visible within the roof.
