Description
No. 44 on High Street South is a small house dating from the 17th century, which has been altered and extended over time. The building features a timber frame with colour-washed brick and plaster infill, and the gable facing the street has mostly been rebuilt in colour-washed brick. It has a thatched roof with a central brick chimney and consists of one and a half storeys across two bays. The windows are 3-light casements, with barred wooden ones on the ground floor and leaded glass on the first floor beneath the thatch. The entrance is a central ledged board door.
To the far gable, there is a 20th-century cross wing constructed of colour-washed render, topped with a steeply pitched tiled roof, which includes one storey and an attic. The left side features garage doors, while to the right there is a recessed door with a 3-light leaded dormer above it.
