Description

This is a 18th-century dovecote, originally part of Manor House (previously Manor Farmhouse), now used as a store. A stone plaque bearing the initials "H.G.A. 1704" is set into a moulded brick frame on the north side. The dovecote is constructed of brick, featuring diaper patterning using vitreous tile headers, apart from the north side. It has a moulded brick plinth, a moulded band course, eaves cornice, and brick pilasters to the corners with moulded necking. The roof is tiled, with a lead capping in the centre and an iron weathervane. The plan is octagonal. The west and southwest sides have windows with wooden grills, while the east side has a hipped dormer with leaded lights. Doorways are located on the north and south sides, the north doorway having a segmental head. The interior is complete, containing approximately 800 ogee-arched nesting boxes.
