Description
Crofton Cottage is a small house dating from the 17th century that has been altered over time. It features a rendered plinth and brick on the ground floor, while the first floor is timber-framed with brick infill, mostly arranged in a herringbone pattern on the front. The left gable has large rubble stone blocks on the ground floor, with plastered infill above in the frame. The cottage has a thatched roof and flanking brick chimneys. It is 1½ storeys tall and consists of 2 bays. The windows are 3-light leaded casements, with the ground floor left window having a segmental head, and the first-floor windows partly set in thatch. The central entrance has a 6-panelled door in a wooden frame, complete with a moulded architrave and a cornice hood supported by shaped brackets. There is also a later lean-to extension at the rear.
