Description
Manor Farmhouse is a house dating back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the early and late 19th century. The north-west range has a ground floor constructed of chequer brick and a first floor of whitewashed roughcast, likely over a timber frame and jettied to the front with restored beam ends. The upper left gable displays timber framing with brick infill. The right gable and a rear wing, originally part of a 'L' shaped house, were rebuilt in the late 19th century using pale brick. A further extension of similar brick is located in the south-west angle. The roof is covered with old tiles. A large brick chimney between the wings features rebuilt square brick shafts arranged diagonally – two single shafts and two paired shafts. Another brick chimney is situated between the bays of the north-west wing. The north-west front has three bays, with the bay to the right being blank, while the other two bays contain barred, three-light horizontal sliding sash windows. A top-lit six-panelled door is positioned between the windows. There is a lean-to on the left side, built with irregular red and vitreous brick, featuring a similar window to the front and a door to the side. The rear of the house has wooden casements in two gabled bays.
