Description

Lock 38 on the Grand Union Canal is a canal lock built around 1800, with some alterations made later. It features brick retaining walls topped with stone coping. The lock has pairs of gates equipped with sluices and winding gear, along with quoins that are dated 1862 and 1885. At the northeast end, there are brick steps, and four cast iron bollards are present. Additionally, there are two side ponds with sluices and winding gear that date from 1886.
