Description

Cherry Orchard Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th century, featuring a 2-bay wing to the northeast and an 18th-century range, which may have originally been a barn, creating an L-shaped plan. The building was altered in the 19th century and has 20th-century L-shaped extensions to the south. The original sections include some timber framing with whitewashed brick infill, though parts have been rebuilt in whitewashed brick. The northeast end is covered with whitewashed render and is partly hidden by a 20th-century lean-to. The roofs are half-hipped and thatched. The 17th-century wing has a central brick chimney and is 1½ storeys high, while the rest of the house is 2 storeys. The windows are irregular wooden casements, some dating from the 19th century, along with various doors. The 20th-century extensions are made of colourwashed brick and thatch, featuring a large bay window at the southern end.
