Description
Weir Cottage is a house dating from the 16th to 17th century, with an extension from the 18th century. The northern range of the cottage is timber framed with whitewashed brick infill, while the rear wing is made of whitewashed brick. The building has half-hipped thatch roofs and brick chimneys at the center of each range, forming an L-plan layout. The northern range has two storeys and two bays, with the left bay slightly recessed and gabled, featuring heavy curved braces. There are paired barred wooden casements, and a similar small casement on the first floor between the bays. A 20th-century door is located to the left, and there is a small tiled lean-to on the ground floor of the right bay. The rear wing has one storey and an attic, with two bays. It features wooden casements, including a three-light window to the left and a two-light window to the right, as well as a central round oven projection.
