Description

Pond Cottage is a house dating back to the 15th century, and significantly altered in the 17th, 18th and 20th centuries. The two central bays are timber-framed with brick infill, the right bay containing two cruck trusses. The bay to the right was constructed in the late 19th century using rat-trap brick, while a 20th-century extension is to the left and finished with colourwashed render and planked half-timbering. The roofs are thatched, with brick chimneys, the one to the right of the 15th-century bay being made of thin brick. The late 19th-century bay is single-storied, while the rest of the building is single-storied with an attic, and has varied roof heights. Windows are irregular 20th-century wooden casements. There's a rebuilt lobby entrance to the right of the 15th-century bay, and a fireplace dated 1643 is present within the building.
