Description
No. 15 on Heath Lane is a house dating from the 17th century, which incorporates parts of an older building and has been altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. Some timber framing is visible at the rear and inside, while the left bay has been recased to a gable and rear in whitewashed brick. The front was rebuilt in whitewashed brick during the late 18th to 19th centuries, with the left bay being modified later, featuring slightly raised brick quoins and a band course. The house has a half-hipped thatch roof, with a central chimney made of thin brick and a later brick chimney on the left. It is 1½ storeys high and consists of four bays. The windows are paired barred wooden casements, with those on the ground floor having segmental heads and the upper windows partly covered by thatch. The right bay, which was formerly a stable, is irregular and includes a projecting garage entry. There is a 19th-century porch projection at the center with a lean-to thatch roof, paired casements at the front, and a 20th-century door on the right side. A similar door is found in a trellis porch to the right of the left bay. A 20th-century single wooden casement is located in a blocked doorway to the right of the third bay, and there is a 20th-century extension at the rear. Inside, the building features a cruck truss between the left bays and a stop-chamfered spine beam in the third bay.
