Description

House. Dating from the 17th century, it was significantly altered and rebuilt in the mid-18th century, with extensions added in the 19th century. The building has a timber frame with brick infill to the rear, although this is largely hidden by 20th-century additions, except for the rear of the left bay. The south front is brick, with the two bays to the left constructed of chequered brick featuring black headers and a first-floor band course. The two smaller bays to the right similarly feature chequered brick with pale headers. The left gable is pebble-dashed with brick capping. The roof is thatched, and there are three brick chimneys. The house has one and a half storeys and four bays. The left bay has a two-light wooden casement within the thatched roof and a blocked window with a gauged brick head beneath. The remaining bays have 19th-century wooden casements; a three-light casement is present on the ground floor of the centre bays and within the thatch, and a two-light casement is on the ground floor to the right. The ground-floor windows in the right bays have cambered heads. A small 20th-century extension is present to the right, with entry to the rear provided by 20th-century extensions. A historical note indicates that the brickwork to the southern elevation was rendered in the 1980s after the building was added to the List.
