Description
No. 5 Castle Lane is a 17th-century house that has been altered over time. It features a timber frame with brick infill and a rendered plinth at the front, while the rear wall is made of colourwashed brick and rubble stone. The house has a thatched roof with brick chimneys located at the gables and between the left bays. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays. The left bay has paired wooden casements with single horizontal glazing bars, and the upper window is partly covered by thatch. The right-hand bays contain irregular 20th-century two-light leaded casements, and there is a 20th-century door between them, topped with a board hood supported by shaped wooden brackets. There are brick lean-tos on both the left and right, with the right one partly made of rubble stone. The rear of the house features raised eaves.
