Description

House. Dating from the 17th century, it has been altered subsequently. The house is timber-framed with whitewashed brick infill and a rubble stone plinth, with some parts of the right wall also of coursed rubble stone. It has a tiled roof with rebuilt brick chimneys to the right gable and between the left bays. The house is two storeys high and originally three bays wide. The right bays have irregular 20th-century metal casement windows and a 20th-century door in a wooden frame. Above the door is a moulded brick pediment, which originated elsewhere, and a small lead shield displaying a crown and rosette dated 1603. The left bay incorporates garage doors and double half-glazed doors on the ground floor, with single lights flanking them; the first floor has similar windows. The interior features re-used timbers, including one heavily moulded and stopped beam.
