Description

Winscott Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 16th to 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is rendered and whitewashed, with the timber frame exposed at the rear. It features both thatched and tiled roofs and is designed in an L-plan, with a timber-framed extension at the rear angle. The house has 1½ storeys, with the eastern range consisting of two bays. The ground floor has 19th-century three-light wooden casements with segmental heads, while the upper floor has three paired leaded casements beneath thatch. There is a central half-glazed door set in a 20th-century gabled timber porch with a slate roof. The rear of the house includes 19th and 20th-century barred wooden casements. The northern front mirrors the casement style and has two entries, one featuring a thatched porch. A 20th-century extension is located to the west. Inside, the ground floor room at the western end of the original house has a moulded spine beam. An outbuilding attached to the western end is currently being converted into a dwelling but is not of special interest.
