Description

The Old Cottage is a house dating from the 17th and early 18th centuries, with alterations and extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. The left-hand part of the house has a timber frame with brick infill, one panel of which is herringbone pattern. The rest of the building was rebuilt or added in brick, with some timber framing present. The roof is tiled, with a half-hipped section facing the street and a hipped section to the right. The house has one storey and an attic, and originally had four bays. Two bays to the right project slightly, the bay furthest right being a 20th-century extension. The ground floor has irregular barred wooden casement windows, while the first floor has paired barred wooden casement windows in eaves-line dormers. A board door is located between the left bays, and 20th-century French windows are present to the right. A barn located parallel to the rear of the property is not considered to be of special architectural or historical interest.
