Description
Chipps Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure features a timber frame with brick infill at the first floor rear, while the rest has been rebuilt in brick during the 19th and 20th centuries, with some flint present in the right bay. It has flanking lean-to extensions made of flint and brick. The roof is half-hipped and covered with old tiles. A central brick chimney with a pilaster is located on the left side. The cottage is one storey and has an attic, consisting of three bays with an additional half bay to the left. The ground floor has irregular barred wooden casements, and there are two gabled eaves-line dormers featuring similar three-light casements. To the right of the center, there is a boarded door, and a 20th-century boarded door is found in the lean-to on the left. Inside, the cottage has timber-framed cross walls, with the wall to the right of the chimney displaying curved bracing. The interior also features stop-chamfered spine beams, and one bay contains stop-chamfered joists.
