Description

The Old School is a former school building, converted into five houses, dating from 1852 and altered around 1980. It is constructed of flint with stone dressings and features slate roofs, stone coped gables with moulded kneelers, and ornamental gablets. The building has an E-plan layout, with gabled side wings and a small parallel block attached to the central spur. Originally one storey, it now includes an inserted attic storey.

Architectural details include diagonal buttresses and stone mullion windows with pointed arched lights. The main rear range has four bays of two-light windows and 20th-century skylights. The side wings feature tall three-light windows with hoodmoulds that step over a taller central light, and roundels at the apex of each gable. The right wing has a main window divided into two storeys, a large board door on the left side with ornamental hinges, and a shallow porch with a catslide roof supported by shaped stone brackets. This wing also has two gabled semi-dormers with trefoil lights above altered two-light windows, along with a 20th-century lean-to porch at the far end.

The left wing is slightly lower and has a 20th-century lean-to extension to the left with brick dressings and a door on the left side. The small central block is one storey high and features a gabled feature at the centre front with a buttress, flanking lancets, and a blind trefoil inscribed with "Feed my lambs." The link spur has 20th-century doors on each side, with the left door set in an original Caernarvon arch.
