Description

This barn, located approximately 25 meters northwest of The Old Vicarage in Turville Village, is likely from the mid-18th century and was altered in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with weatherboarding and a flint plinth, topped with a corrugated iron roof that was originally thatched. The barn consists of three bays, with the side facing the road having central cart doors and a three-light metal casement window with Gothick glazing bars to the left. Below the window, there is a small metal sign that reads "Air Raid Warden's Post." The rear of the barn includes a central gabled projection and a stable-type door in the left bay. The roof is adorned with 20th-century wooden finials at each end and a central octagonal wooden turret featuring small battlements and arched openings. Inside, the roof trusses are supported by curved queen posts and curved braces connecting to the tie beams. This barn is included for its group value.
