Description

The Garage is a house and workshop that has undergone alterations, primarily in the late 18th and 19th centuries, to what was likely an older building. The left bay exhibits timber framing to the side and rear, with 19th-century brickwork to the front. The central two bays are of the late 18th century and constructed from a checker brick pattern, featuring a plinth and moulded eaves, with a central chimney. The roof is of old tiles, with a hipped design over a small shop extension to the left. A two-bay red brick extension, dated to the late 19th century and with dentil eaves and a tiled roof, was added to the right. The central bays rise two storeys and contain 20th-century barred wooden casements and an off-centre 20th-century half-glazed door. Ground floor openings have segmental heads, incorporating narrow stone or rendered keyblocks, with diapering in blue headers to the left of the door. The left bay is single-storey, with two irregular barred wooden casements. The 19th-century bays to the right are two storeys high, with 20th-century three-light windows on the ground floor and barred horizontal sliding sashes on the first floor.
