Description

The Wingrave War Memorial is a war memorial unveiled in 1921. It is made of rough-hewn granite and features an obelisk that stands approximately 9 feet high on a square plinth with a two-stepped base. A cross is carved into the front face of the obelisk.

On the plinth, there is a panel that reads "IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF," followed by the names of the nineteen individuals who fell in the First World War, along with the inscription "MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN/ THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1919./ 'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE.'"

Above this, the panel at the base of the obelisk displays the dates 1939 - 1945, along with the names of the four individuals who fell in the Second World War. All the lettering is in black-painted inset lead.
