Description

Floyds Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with alterations and an extension added in the late 18th century. The central two bays retain a timber frame with 17th-century brick infilling to the first floor and later brickwork below. To the left, and on the left side as a cross wing, is chequer brickwork, distinguished by a moulded plinth and eaves or a band course at second floor level. A two-bay extension to the right is also of chequer brick, with a moulded plinth to the lower walls and vitreous headers with red brick dressings and moulded eaves to the upper part. The house has tiled roofs and brick chimneys that flank the central bays. It is two storeys high, with a basement, and consists of six bays. The left bay and the timber-framed bay to the right are gabled, with the right bay slightly projecting. The centre bays contain three-light casement windows, mostly with leaded glass, with wooden basement windows to the right. The 18th-century bays to the right have a three-light wooden basement window and blind window panels on the main floors. A central panelled door is set within a slightly projecting wooden architrave surround, topped with a cornice and a lead roof.
