BLEDLOW-CUM-SAUNDERTON WYCOMBE ROAD SU 89 NW (SAUNDERTON) 3/59 Stables adjacent to E. of - Grange Farmhouse

Stables. Mostly mid-late C18, incorporating remains of C15- early C16 cruck structure. Part timber frame and weatherboard, part rebuilt in whitewashed brick. Red-painted corrugated iron roofs, half-hipped at N. end, hipped over corner bay. L-plan. E. range is of 7 bays, the 3 N. bays slightly lower with central gabled cart entry projecting to W. Other doors in centre bay of range. Flanking bay with cart entry are 2 cruck trusses, the N. truss with asymmetrical blades and missing collars, the S. truss with arch-braces to lower collar. Original double purlins. Other bays have curved principal trusses. S. range of 5 bays has trusses with queen struts to upper purlins and small raking posts to lower purlins. C20 whitewashed brick and corrugated iron extension along N. side of S. range.
