Description

The stables adjacent to the east of Grange Farmhouse date mostly from the mid to late 18th century, with parts of a cruck structure from the 15th to early 16th century incorporated into the building. The stables feature a combination of timber framing and weatherboarding, along with sections rebuilt in whitewashed brick. The roofs are made of red-painted corrugated iron, with a half-hipped design at the northern end and a hipped roof over the corner bay. The building is arranged in an L-plan.

The eastern range consists of seven bays, with the three northern bays being slightly lower and featuring a central gabled cart entry that projects to the west. There are additional doors in the center bay of this range. Flanking the bay with the cart entry are two cruck trusses; the northern truss has asymmetrical blades and missing collars, while the southern truss includes arch-braces to the lower collar. The original double purlins are still present, and the other bays have curved principal trusses.

The southern range has five bays, with trusses that include queen struts to the upper purlins and small raking posts to the lower purlins. There is a 20th-century extension made of whitewashed brick and corrugated iron along the northern side of the southern range.
