Description
These stables, located about 20 meters west-northwest of Corner Farmhouse, date from the late 17th century or early 18th century. They are constructed with a timber frame, partly weatherboarded, and have brick infill, with the rear side faced in brick. The gable-ended roof is covered with corrugated iron sheets. The building has a three-bay plan that faces the yard.
On the exterior, the ground floor is infilled with common bricks and features a doorway to the right of center. Above this, the structure is weatherboarded, with a loft door on the left and a window at the center, both of which have boarded doors. The right-hand gable end inside the cartway has a brick infilled timber frame. The rear side is blind and faced in brick, with one post partially exposed to the left of center.
Inside, the structure has a three-bay frame, with one post on the west front being a reused moulded beam. Braces are nailed to the tie-beams. The south truss features curved queen-struts supporting clasped purlins, while the north truss has queen-posts supporting a collar with clasped purlins above.
