Description
Ivy Cottage is a house dating from the 15th century, extended in the late 16th century and re-fronted in the 19th century. The right-hand bay features concealed cruck trusses, with a brick front, rubble stone, and weatherboarding on the right gable, topped by a thatched roof. The building has one storey and an attic, with a three-light leaded casement window to the left and a six-panelled door to the right, both having segmental heads. There is also a 20th-century attic window in the gable. The two 16th-century bays to the left are constructed of chequer brick with cut brick eaves and a thatched roof, flanked by brick chimneys, one of which has some thin brick. This section has two storeys with three-light leaded casements on the ground floor, featuring cambered heads, and two blocked doorways with similar heads, one to the right having a small leaded window. Inside, the cottage has stop-chamfered spine beams and joists, a moulded lintel above the fireplace in the central bay, and old boarded and two-panelled doors.
