Description

This is a country house. The original section dates to 1635 and was significantly extended in 1903 and 1908 by R Lorimer. The house is constructed of rubble stone with ashlar dressings, plain tile roofs, and red brick chimney stacks. The original block, located at the northwest corner, is cross-gabled and has two storeys and an attic. A plaque displays the date "1635" and TL. It features moulded ironstone mullion windows, with four lights on the ground and first floors and three lights in the basement and attic, facing the west front. In the 20th century, the house was extended to the west with a balancing gable and a central section with an attic dormer gable. A long north range was also added in the 20th century, two storeys high with attic dormers. Windows in both the original and extended sections have leaded lights set within flush Bath stone surrounds with chamfered mullions. The north range includes a two-storey projecting porch with a carved armorial panel and a coped, shouldered gable. A service wing extends from the north end.
