Description
The Close, on the left, is a house, while The Old Star is an office. Both buildings date from the early 19th century and are constructed of red brick with offset eaves and a tiled roof. They feature brick chimneys located at the center and right gable. The structures are two stories tall with an attic and consist of four bays, including a central carriage entry. The windows are four-pane boxed sashes, although the ground floor windows in the right bays have been renewed in the 20th century. The left bay on the ground floor is irregular and includes a canted bay window with barred sashes, along with a 20th-century three-pane sash in a blocked doorway to the right. There are three small gabled dormers with paired wooden casements. The Close has a flush-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight positioned to the right of center, while The Old Star features a central 20th-century door and fanlight. These buildings are included for their group value.
