Description
The Whiteleaf Cross is a public house built around 1760-1770. It is constructed from vitreous header brick with red brick quoins, window surrounds, a moulded plinth, and moulded dentil eaves. The building features an old tiled roof and a rebuilt brick chimney located between the left bays. It has two storeys and three bays. The left bay on the ground floor was rebuilt in the 20th century. The ground floor has 19th to 20th century tripartite sash windows, while the first floor has three-light barred wooden casements, all with gauged heads. There are narrower blind window panels with similar heads on the first floor between the bays, with the left panel showing remains of a County fire insurance plaque. A six-panelled door, which is top-lit, is situated between the right bays and features a wooden doorcase with fluted Doric pilasters, a triglyph frieze, a pediment, and panelled reveals. There is another entrance to the left in No.2.
