Description
Cromwell House is an office building dating from the late 17th century, with significant repairs made in the 20th century. It is constructed of red and vitreous brick, featuring band courses at the second floor level on the front and at the first floor level on the left side. The building has old tile roofs and a 20th-century brick chimney on the left side. It stands two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays, both of which are gabled at the front. Each bay has two leaded cross casements on the first floor and one paired leaded casement in the attic. The ground floor of the left bay features an early 19th-century rectangular bay window with paired four-pane sash windows and a hipped tile roof. The right bay has a shallow projection with a hipped roof and a 20th-century three-light leaded casement. There is a door to the right. The interior has been refurbished, but the ground floor left room retains an early 19th-century fireplace with an architrave surround and carved frieze, along with flanking arched cupboards that have panelled doors and shaped shelves.
