Description
Vine House is a house and shop that dates from the 16th to early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th to early 20th century. It features a timber frame with colourwashed brick infill, while the ground floor has been rebuilt in colourwashed brick. The building has an old tile roof and late 19th to early 20th century ornamental bargeboards, along with a rebuilt central brick chimney. It is designed in an L-plan with a small 19th century extension at the rear angle. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with the first floor jettied at the front on beam ends. The house has two bays and includes three-light wooden casements with single horizontal glazing bars, and a central 20th century door. The left gable features similar casements: three-light on the ground floor, two-light on the first floor, and one two-light in the attic. There is a barred and glazed door to the left, framed in a wooden architrave surround, and a late 19th to early 20th century gabled timber porch. Inside, there is a moulded spine beam in the ground floor room to the right.
