Description
The Old Building at Aston Clinton County Primary School is a former Infants' School, constructed in 1859 by Gotto of Tring. It is designed in the Gothic style and features purple brick with stone dressings, gable copings, and kneelers. The roof is tiled with fishscale bands and includes a central louvre topped with a steep hipped tiled roof and terracotta finials. A square clock turret is situated over the south wing, featuring a battered tiled base, a clock stage with a belfry above, and elaborate brackets that support a shingled spirelet with a metal finial. The building is single-storey.
On the south elevation, there is a projecting wing on the right-hand side with a large traceried window. A porch is located at the angle, which has a pointed arched door and a gable at the left-hand end above a 2-light traceried window. The west gable features a 3-light traceried window. The north elevation has four 2-light traceried windows with gables above and a pointed arched door at the left-hand end. This building was constructed as a gift for Constance, the eldest daughter of Sir Antony de Rothschild, on her 16th birthday at her request.
